#5 Bombers Shut Out #2 Salisbury 1-0

Jessica Stangarone scored the winning run against #2 Salisbury
Salisbury, Md.. -- The fifth-ranked Bombers improved to 11-1 on the season and extended their winning streak to eight games by defeating second-ranked Salisbury 1-0. Sophomore pitcher Nicole Cade (Beaverton/Portland, Ore.) earned her fifth win of the season, allowing four hits and striking out eight in seven innings.

The game was scoreless heading into the bottom of the fifth inning when sophomore second baseman Jessica Stangarone (Brewster/Brewster) led off with a single and advanced to second on an error by the right fielder. Senior third baseman Amanda Illinger (Norwich Free Academy/Hanover, Conn.) sacrificed Stangarone over to second and she scored when the second baseman misplayed a groundball by junior designated hitter Hannah Shalett (Shepaug Valley/Bridgewater, Conn.). Salisbury committed four errors in the loss.

The Bombers continue play at the Sea Gull Tournament tomorrow. They will face Capital at 9 a.m. and Salisbury at 11 a.m.
